Getting to Karlsruhe
By Plane
The two closest airports are Frankfurt and Karlsruhe Baden Baden. From both of them, you can reach Karlsruhe by train in a bit more than on hour. From Baden Baden, you can use a regional train; from Frankfurt a more comfortable and more expensive ICE (inter city express). You most likely want to go to Frankfurt, as it is the much bigger airport with more direct connections.
By Train
To get to Karlsruhe, you want to choose Karlsruhe Hbf as destination (Hbf stands for Hauptbahnhof, which is German for main station). You can search for connections on the website of Deutsche Bahn. We recommend using the DB Navigator mobile app. It lets your search for connections, book tickets, and shows live information on delays (which unfortunately tend to happen). You can also use the DB Navigator for public transportation (see below).

Public Transportation
You should be able to get everywhere easily using public transportation.
The local transport association is KVV, but you cal simply use the DB Navigator mentioned above to plan your trip and book tickets.
There is also a map (pdf) of where the different lines go.
The usual maps applications like Google maps should also work for planning your trip.
Note that the S in front of the lines matter. So for example 1 and S1 are two different lines.
If you like to bike, there is also bike sharing. There are also multiple e-scooter sharing companies.
